The call for Black Hole Club 2020 has opened!
Black Hole Club (abbr. BHC) is a lively, daring space for creative people to share and test ideas with support and facilitation from BHC producer Cathy Wade. Members practices include but are not limited to digital art, live performance, experimental audio, film and video, animation, installation and computer-generated art. For 2020 , Black Hole Club will be focused as a space for development and action for 15 members to inform and respond to Vivid Projects’ programme.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking applications from creative people with diverse interests and skill sets, who will commit to utilising time and space at Vivid Projects to develop work and new ways of making.
The emphasis is on utilisation, testing and embedding practices/ideas onsite that can develop as long-term work. We are seeking members who can contribute, collaborate and originate projects and events as a sustained group, spending at least 10 days onsite together during the year. We are ambitious for what can be achieved by this cohort, and welcome applications that hold challenges and have a bold vision for how they can work within Black Hole Club and outside of it. Together we will chart our own course of action, responsive to the interests and ambitions of BHC.
In 2019 BHC members have been commissioned to make work for Birmingham Weekender in Digbeth, shown work at Manchester Contemporary and participated in workshops, crits and exchanges. Programmed activities take place predominantly on Thursdays and Saturdays and are shared with audiences live, through social media and via the BHC website.
Black Hole Club runs annually from 1st March – 31st December. Members contribute £7 per month towards facilities overheads. We can offer to support with access funds to cover some of the programmes overheads, if you would benefit from this please let us know in your application.
Applications can be submitted until 10th January 2020, if you would like to informally discuss making an application, please email Cathy Wade firstname.lastname@example.org
