Creative Coding Circle

28 March – 18 April 2023, 18:00 - 20:00

Interested in live coding but not sure whether it’s for you?

This spring, (Algo|Afro) Futures presents Creative Coding Circle, a series of relaxed and casual meetups for Black artists and musicians interested in learning about live coding for visuals and sound. This free opportunity is a taster for the 2023 (Algo|Afro) Futures programme, produced by Antonio Roberts and supported by Vivid Projects since 2021.

Across four sessions beginning 28 March you will be sampling a number of beginner-friendly programming languages for live coding music and visuals, including Strudel, TidalCycles, Improviz, LiveCodeLab, Hydra, and VCV Rack.

The sessions will be led by (Algo|Afro) Futures founder Antonio Roberts (aka hellocatfood) and Tyger Blue, who was part of the (Algo|Afro) Futures cohort in 2022. Together they have a wealth of experience in performing at local and international festivals, as well as delivering workshops to participants of all skill levels.

This is a great opportunity to network with other artists and musicians, make new connections, and learn about creative coding together in a safe and inclusive environment. If you have ever wanted to learn about the creative possibilities of programming and have ambitions to use these skills in your artistic or music practice then these sessions will serve as the perfect introduction!
