Announcing the 2020 Black Hole Club Cohort

Vivid Projects is pleased to announce the 2020 Black Hole Club cohort of fifteen ambitious, talented and risk-taking individuals and groups from across the Midlands region. Now in its seventh year, Black Hole Club is a programme of creative development and collaboration for artists and creative practitioners with a diverse range of backgrounds and cultural interests. Participants are selected from an annual open call and use the year to collaborate, test and present new aspects to their practices. Responding to Vivid Projects mission to foster media arts and interdisciplinary practice, the programme encourages fluid cultural practices and fosters new dialogues between emergent and established practitioners.

Black Hole Club 2020 participants are: Ambience Factory, De’Anne Crooks, Formuls, Ambie Drew, Rosa Francesca, Kühle Wampe, Susan Kruse, Leanne O’Connor, Alis Oldfield, Rosa Postlethwaite, Jas Singh, Emily Scarrott, Larissa Shaw, Albert Smith and Symoné. The cohort will be based at Vivid Projects production and exhibition space in Digbeth, Birmingham and will be supported by producer Cathy Wade and company curatorial associates. Areas to be explored include digital art, live performance, experimental audio, film and video, re-thinking archive, collaborative and social practices and digital cultures.

Save the date: The first public event presented with the Black Hole Club this year will take place on 1 May 2020.
